G. R. S. Taylor (?-1939) George Robert Stirling Taylor was a lawyer who preferred to write on historical and cultural subjects rather than practice law. He wrote regularly for on music, art, politics, and anything else that interested him—and he had broad interests. He wrote a number of books, including , , , , , (MJP digital edition available), , and . He lived at No. 1 Pump Court in London, where he and his wife hosted many gatherings. He performed his research mainly at the nearby Middle Temple Library. During the first decade of the twentieth century he was a frequently rebellious member of the Executive Committee of the Fabian Society.
