by Scholes, Robert
He was born in Holland and was educated at Delft University, studying art afterwards at the Hague Academy of Art. He moved to London in 1896. He is known mainly for his work in watercolors and exhibited often with the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-Colour, of which he was a member. The difficult-to-please Ezra Pound praised his work in a review of April 1918 (NA 22.24:472).
