Biographies

Toma Rosandic’ (1878 – 1959) He was born and died in Split. A sculptor, he became a professor at the School of Arts in Belgrade, an Academy member and the first Rector of the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. He lived and worked in Belgrade from 1921 to 1954. From 1947 to 1952, he managed his master workshop at the Academy of Arts and at his atelier, today the Museum of Toma Rosandic, in Belgrade, Serbia. Reviewing some works of his in in 1917, Ezra pound found his work “hopeful,” saying “I should be more inclined to trust him than [Metrovic]” . The New Age (NA 22.8:153)
