Brueghel (Bruegel) Family (1500 – 1599)

Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1525/30-1569) is the most admired member of the family, though his sons Pieter and Jan were also talented. Pieter the elder spelled his name “Bruegel,” and was known as “Peasant Bruegel” because of his many paintings of peasant life.
