Sheringham, George (1884-1937)

George Sheringham (1884 – 1937) He was born in London, where he studied art at the Slade School (1899-1901) before going to Paris, where he studied from 1904-1906. He showed his work first in Paris and then in London, where he became known as a designer of stage sets and an illustrator of works by A. Conan Doyle and He was the author of 1922 and (with James Laver) 1927. An invalid from 1932, he continued to paint flowers until his death. Max Beerbohm Drawing in Pen and Pencil Design in the Theatre
