Klinger, Max (1857-1920)

He was born near and worked in Leipzig, but from time to time he also lived in Brussels, Paris, Munich, Berlin and Rome. He studied graphic technique during a few years in the 1870’s with Karl von Gussow, in Karlsruhe and Berlin. He was known equally as a graphic artist and a sculptor, and his work was often referred to as symbolist. He traveled widely and spent time in Paris and in Italy.
