Scott, William Bell (1811-1890)

William Bell Scott (1811 – 1890) Born in Edinburgh, he was a poet and painter who admired and became associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. he was initially tutored by his father, Robert Scott, an Edinburgh engraver, along with his brother David Scott. After he moved to London he met members of the PRB. Some say Christina Rossetti was in love with him. Scott was married to Letitia Norquoy and in 1859 he met Alice Boyd and soon a menage a trois that included Mrs. Scott developed that lasted for 26 years. Art historians say his poetry is better than his painting. Literary critics say he was a painter. William Blake
