Frank Craig (1874 – 1918)

He was born at Abbey Wood, Kent and attended the Lambeth School of Art, Cook’s School on Fitzroy Street, and the Royal Academy Schools, where he studied under Edward Abbey. He worked on staff at and exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Paris salons. He also worked for The Graphic in England and Nash’s Magazine (1902-1904), McClures Magazine (1907-1914) and in the US. He was an illustrator, mainly, but his painting was praised by the hard-to-please Anthony Ludovici in Harpers Scribner’s (NA 13:4:95). He moved to Portugal for his health, late in his short life, and died there.
