Ablett, William (1877-1937)
by Scholes, Robert
William Ablett was born in London but lived for most of his life in Paris, where he died in 1937. He had a portrait in an exhibition of the Royal Portrait Institute in 1913, but found a more lucrative vein as a leading artist in “boudoir” painting and print making. “Boudoir” images were the soft core ancestors of pin-ups and centerfold photographs.
