Aublet, Albert (1851-1937?) by Scholes, Robert

Albert Aublet (1851 – 1937) He was, among other things, a well-known Orientalist painter, who painted many scenes from Tunisia to Turkey, but he also worked often in the seaside town TrĂ©port, on the northwest coast of France, where Normandy meets Picardy. He was well known in the literary and musical circles of Paris at the turn of the nineteenth century, illustrating works by Maupassant and others, and painting Massenet, Debussy, and other composers.
