Barnes, Archibald George (1887-1972) by Scholes, Robert

Archibald George Barnes (1887 – 1972) He was born at Sandon and studied at the St. John’s Wood School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. He began exhibiting his work in 1913. In that year Anthony Ludovici, writing in for December 4th, ranked him among a group of watercolorists worthy of notice (NA 14.5:153). He lived in London and exhibited there often, mainly with the Fine Art Society.
