Walter Bayes (1869 – 1956) Born into a family of artists in London (his father was Alfred Walter Bayes and his brother and sister became artists as well), Walter Bayes studied in the evenings at the City and Guilds Technical College, Finsbury (1886-1900), and then at Westminster School of Art (1900-02). He was a founding member of the Camden Town Group (1911) and of the London Group of Artists (1913). He was also the art critic of The Athenaeum (1906-1916).
