Geoffrey Birkbeck (1875 – 1954)

He was born at Stoke Holy Cross, Norwich, and educated at Eton. He exhibited mostly in London and lived mostly in Norwich. He painted landscapes, portraits, and architectural subjects, usually in watercolor. From a notice of a Birkbeck painting by the Camden Fine Art gallery: Watercolourist in the manner of John Singer Sargent. Born into a prominent family, educated at Eton and married Lady Maud Gundreda, daughter of the Earl of Cavan. Exhibited widely at the Carfax, New Dudely, Goupil and Walker’s Galleries, Fine Art Society and abroad. Well known for his Venetian lagoons and Italian gardens.
