Frances Burlison (1850 – 1920)

We know that she was a sculptor, graphic artist, and interior designer, who studied first at home and then at the Slade school, and that she presented at a show of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters in 1910. She never went to school and was educated by a private governess before attending Slade. She lived most of her life in Highgate in London, at the address shown on the paper which she used for many of her sketches, with her brother Robert and sister Madge. Her father was a stained glass artist and he produced on a strong bronze group of the windows at Westminster Abbey in London. She designed the interior of Packwood House in Warwickshire for the then Baron Graham Ash.
