Richard Carline (1896 – 1980) He was born at Oxford. Both his brother, , and his sister Hilda, were also artists, with his sister marrying the artist , who was a friend of Richard’s. The three siblings were children of the artist, George Carline (1855-1920). They studied at the Slade School and in Paris under Tudor Hart. Richard was an official war artist during World War I, serving in Palestine, Persia, and India. After the war, he lived in Hampstead. Sydney Stanley Spencer
