Dorothy Josephine Coke (1897 – 1979) She studied at the Slade under from 1914 to 1918, and became known for her drawings and water-colors. She was exhibiting with the New English Art Club as early as 1918, and was elected to membership in 1919. She was appointed an official war artist in 1940 and painted mainly service women and female factory workers during World War II. She also taught for many years at the Brighton College of Art. Tonks
