Francis Dodd (1874 – 1949) Dodd was born in Glasgow and received his training at the Glasgow School of Art. After moving to London he became one of the leading portrait artists of his time. He was an official war artist in the 1914-1918 war. He made many fine etchings In 1916 Charles Masterman, the head of the War Propaganda Bureau (WPB), recruited Dodd to replace , as Britain’s official war artist on the Western Front.
