Frederick Havill ( – 1884) Mainly a portrait painter, he showed at the Royal Academy from 1849 to 1874. The National Portrait Gallery has his posthumous portrait of the explorer, David Livingstone. In for December 8, 1910, he is described by Huntly Carter as “a founder of the water-colour school.” The New Age (NA 8.6:140)
