Franz Heckendorf (1888 – 1964) He was born in Berlin and studied at the Kunstgewerbemuseum and the Akademie of that city. He joined the Berlin Secession around 1909. During the Great War, he served on the eastern front, which took him to the Balkans and the Near East, which provided motifs for his painting.
