James, Walter John (1869-1932) by Scholes, Robert

The son of Lord Northbourne, he lived at Eastry, Kent and later at Otterburn, Northumberland. A painter and an etcher of landscapes, Walter John James studied under David Cooper and Frank Short and was also a pupil of Giovanni Costa. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1897 onward and was a Trustee of the Wallace Collection.
