King, Cecil (1881-1942) by Scholes, Robert

There are two Cecil Kings, who are artists, which can make things confusing. The one with these dates has the full name Cecil George Charles King, and was a landscape and marine painter. He was educated at Hayleybury, and then studied engineering and went to the Goldsmiths’ Institute College School of Art, the Westminster School of Art, and to Paris, studying there with Laurens and Steinlen. He became Marine Painter to the Royal Thames Yacht Club in 1932.
