Kuehl, Gotthardt (1850-1915) by Scholes, Robert

Gotthardt Kuehl (1850 – 1915) He was born in Lubeck but lived and worked mostly in Dresden. After studying art in Dresden and Munich he went briefly to Paris. In 1895 he returned to Dresden, where he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts for the rest of his life, and had pupils like and Georg Erler. He is usually considered an impressionist, but his pupils went in many directions. Kurt Schwitters
