Lawrence, Mervyn (1868-?) by Scholes, Robert

Mervyn Lawrence (1868 – ) He was born in Dublin and studied art at the Royal College of Art. He lived in London, where he was deputy headmaster at the Westminster School of Art. He was a sculptor as well as a painter, and, in painting, he produced genre scenes, landscapes, and portraits. He exhibited his work in London from 1894 to 1931. So far as we know, there is no connection between him and the author, Mervyn Lawrence Peake, who was also an accomplished illustrator and taught briefly at the Westminster School in the thirties.
