Leese, Gertrude (1902-1919 (active))
by Scholes, Robert
Gertrude Leese (1902 – 1919) She lived in London and is best known today as an illustrator of works by George Sand. That is all we know about her. We always try to locate images of the specific works discussed in the journal. As you might expect, this is often impossible. Failing that, we seek out similar or typical work by the artist. In this case we have received images of two works by Leese from Marie Hartley: one appears to be a Dutch scene with a boat and women; the other a bridge over a stream. We are still hoping to receive more information about this artist.
