Leonardo da Vinci (1452 – 1519) Born in Anchiano, he was raised in the nearby town of Vinci, leaving there for an apprenticeship with in Florence in 1466. He worked in Florence for some time, moved briefly to Milan, where he painted his fresco of , and then was invited to the court of France by King Francis I. He moved to Amboise in 1516, with the painting we know as the in his baggage. He was, as everyone knows, an extraordinary human being, gifted with talents in science as well as art.
