Masaccio, (1401-1428) by Scholes, Robert

Masaccio (1401 – 1428) He was born in San Giovanni Valdarno, near Florence and joined the painters guild there in 1422. He was one of the first artists to use modern techniques of perspective, and was very influential on both contemporaries and later painters. Only a few of his works survive, and his life was very short.
