Ricard, Louis-Gustave (1823-1873) by Scholes, Robert

Louis-Gustave Ricard (1823 – 1873) He was born in Marseilles in 1823, and studied first under Auber there, and subsequently under Coignet in Paris. Copying Old Masters in the Louvre, he developed a meticulous style and became well-known as a portrait painter.
