Hugh Goldwin Riviere (1869 – 1956) The son of a well-known painter of animals, Briton Riviere, Hugh was born at Bromley in Kent. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools, and exhibited there and at the Paris Salon. He lived in London and Sussex. He was known mainly as a portrait painter and painter of genre scenes.
