All Contributors to the Two Journals, Unweighted

This image represents all 1,125 contributors to Poetry and The Little Review from the onset of each journal (in 1912 and 1914, respectively) through 1922; 688 discrete individuals contributed to Poetry, 540 to the Little Review, and 103 to both journals. This last group is represented in the middle of the image where the contributors to the two journals overlap. The image does not weigh contributors by the number, size, or importance of their contributions, so all contributors are represented equally. Clicking on the thumbnail image above will take you to a full-page pdf of the image, which can be magnified and searched by each author’s name (last name, first name).

All “Chicagoans” contributing to the two journals, weighted

This image is a subset of the above image, representing the 212 “Chicagoans” who contributed to Poetry and the Little Review from the onset of each journal (in 1912 and 1914, respectively) through 1922; 115 discrete individuals contributed to Poetry, 125 to the Little Review, and 28 to both journals. This last group is again represented in the middle of the image where the contributors to the two journals overlap. Unlike the image above, this one expresses the extent of each contributor’s contributions to either magazine, through the thickness of the band (or edge) that extends from the name of the journal to the name of the contributor; thus, Harriet Monroe’s 327 contributions to Poetry are expressed by a very thick band, while her 4 contributions to the Little Review are represented by a much thinner band. Clicking on the thumbnail image above will take you to a full-page pdf of the image, which can be magnified and searched by each author’s name (last name, first name).
