Barstow, Montagu (active: 1891-1919) by Scholes, Robert

Montagu Barstow (active: 1891 – 1919) Barstow’s major claim to fame was that he married the Baroness Orczy, and worked with her illustrating an edition of Hungarian folk-tales. In 1919, Ezra Pound, reviewing a show in which Barstow’s work was included, described Barstow’s as “Bacchantes and Fauns, the classics, revamped for the cake-tin” (NA 25:5:88).
